The recognition came from judges at the prestigious Derbyshire Business Awards, organised by East Midlands Chamber.
The accolade recognises the agency’s commitment to implementing a learning and development culture and supporting wellbeing.
Managing Director Matt Wheatcroft said the company had long recognised the importance of nurturing talent but, over the past two years, had worked hard, assisted by external consultants, to establish clearer progression pathways, encouraging team members to build long-term careers within the business.
“We are determined to recruit the best talent and then support them to achieve their potential through individual plans and structured learning,” he said.
“We have been fortunate to attract bright individuals with positive mindsets and to work with them as they grow their knowledge and skills and take their opportunities to shine.
“These team members bring passion, strategic thinking, technical expertise and creative flair to help our clients achieve their objectives and have developed a track record of producing award-winning work.”
The company is particularly proud of the apprenticeship programme it has operated for the past 12 years, which has produced around a third of its current workforce, and for its professional development activity, run in association with respected industry bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Marketingand Prince 2.
Matt said the results of this investment had reduced staff turnover, saving the business thousands of pounds in disruption costs, and had helped grow long-term understanding and relationships with clients.
“We believe that not only is our increased focus on people development making a considerable impact on annual profitability but, crucially, it is also creating a happier, more motivated, more highly-skilled team – which benefits both Purpose Media and our customers,” he added.
